A lot of people feel like Tarlock has a partnership with Amon. But in my opinion it’s something deeper. Like Amon is at the height of his power now, and no one really knows who his supporters are. Everyone is basically terrified, and all the people are now looking at Tarlock to fix things ( cause he’s the new chief of police.) Times like that can bring out the worst in people, and that’s what’s happening with Tarlock. His principals and methods might have had good intentions at first, but due to the heightened responsibility and power, he feels like he needs to prove himself. he wants to be the good guy who stops amon, and thats why I think he hates Korra so much. He wants the glory of being the “hero” in a way. Because he’s so blinded by trying to take down Amon, he’s resorted to fighting violence with violence, accusing innocent non benders to be equalists just like amon accuses all benders of being like the fire nation. Thats why Korra told him in the last episode that he’s just as bad as Amon. His ambition is blinding him, and thats why I think he acts like he does. The same theme happens in a lot of literature and movies. Like Mr.Crouch in Harry Potter is the same way, and even Zuyko in Avatar the last air bender. It’s like Tarlock is an anti-villein; trying to bring about positive change with the wrong execution
